LAURA JEAN
Laura Jean steeps her songs in the lore of the American West, refracting its triumphs and tragedies through an intimate lens. Laura Kepner-Adney, the lead singer and guitarist in the Tucson-based Laura Jean Band (formerly Laura and the Killed Men), shades her voice with echoes of honkey tonk and Appalachia. Her expansive lyricism highlights her connection to Arizona’s unforgiving environment, and her songwriting weaves together the disparate elements of what has defined country music throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.

HANK TOPLESS
Based in Tucson, AZ, country blues singer / songwriter Hank Topless has shared stages with and / or provided support for: Junior Brown, Kinky Friedman, Joe Ely, Pete Anderson, Al Perry, Skip Heller, Robbie Fulks, Jim Goad, Tom Walbank, Scott Biram, Jesse Dayton, Split Livers, Al Foul, Gary Stockdale, Whitney Rose, Kevin Daly, Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band, Calexico, Les Paul, and many more. Finalist in multiple iterations of yearly “Best Of Tucson,” in the country music category.
Growing up on a ranch in central Arizona, there was a lot of country music on the radio. After quite a few years playing obscenely obscure underground rock ‘n roll, Topless “went country” around 1990. He masterminded the obscure, “all-star” Tucson underground-country group Topless Opry (2000-2004)- their album “No Phoenix Blues” (2002) achieved minimal notoriety for its bold, honkytonk-style cover of Lou Reed’s “All Tomorrow’s Parties.” His solo albums “It’s So December” (2011) and “Big Black Heart” (2017) have received critical acclaim. Upcoming albums “Easy Listening For The Hard-Hearted” and “Hank Me Crank Me I’m Dead” (live solo) are slated for release in Fall 2019.
